World Series Game 7 Captures 51M Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The nail-biting 11-inning contest that saw the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a combined over 50 million spectators across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball announced this is the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest secured over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It additionally is the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a 16% increase over the previous finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game came in 8th, and the third game landed in thirteenth place.

International Viewership Figures

In Canada, the game drew 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – drew over 13 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Trends

The entire seven-match World Series recorded over 15.7 million viewers on Fox, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the total US average was over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged over 8 million viewers, an eight percent rise over the previous year and the network’s strongest postseason ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in 16 various languages.
