From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear out of place, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could enable the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
